At the retreat we proposed adding two study sessions during the year to allow the Caucus to discuss issues of concern in greater depth. Our first study session is Wednesday, May 6 from 8:30am - 11:30am at the Chamber.

There are three items that the Executive Committee proposes to discuss:

• International Development Committee Define the structure, objectives & membership of the new committee. Tom Clark will join us to talk about how our committee can work with the MDEDC to support their efforts.

• FasTracks How does Cal Marsella's resignation impact the timing of a ballot initiative? What is the role of the MMC in the ballot initiative? What are the key benchmarks to meet in a successful campaign?
  

• Urban Renewal With urban renewal battles again being fought at the Capitol, we will discuss the potential role and timing of the MMC acting as a convener for discussions around urban renewal. At our April meeting, mayors suggested that we bring together city, county and special district policy makers to educate on the current laws governing urban renewal, explore the benefits and negative impacts/unintended consequences, and look for key areas of compromise.
